Events |
CHCH events are typically within 75 miles of Denver, CO, and are in the Rocky Mountains or associated foothills. They are on groomed or periodically maintained and well marked trails. By the nature of this geography, there may be significant elevation gains on some of the hikes. Because of this, and the starting elevation (we are a mile above sea level), our hikes have trail ratings of 3 and above. However, the views, scenery, wildlife of this wonderful area are, in our opinion, worth the effort. Take a camera, plenty of water, and be prepared for high country weather changes. What is CORSAR? While our hikes are far from treacherous, accidents or medical emergencies can happen. In remote areas of Colorado, evacuations sometimes are the responsibility of CORSAR, Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue. In 1987, the Colorado State legislature established a Search And Rescue Fund to assist local governmental agencies for costs incurred in search and rescue activities involving persons holding hunting or fishing licenses, vessel, snowmobile, or off-highway vehicle registrations, or a CORSAR card. You can purchase a card that covers the cost of the CORSAR services that could come out of your own pocket. Colorado residents and visitors are well served by dedicated volunteer search and rescue teams, but mission costs are often in the thousands of dollars. By purchasing a CORSAR card you are contributing to the Search and Rescue Fund, which will reimburse these teams for costs incurred in your search and rescue. The CORSAR card costs $ 3.00 for one year or $ 12.00 for five years. Our club recommends your consideration of the purchase of this card. |
