| History Lesson: Chautauqua Institution is situated in a Victorian lakeside village that hosts a summer program of arts, education and recreation in an ecumenical environment. Gingerbread-style cottages and charming gardens create a living quilt of yesteryear small-town America. Route follows winding walkways. After the walk, enjoy a meal and rock in a rocking chair overlooking beautiful Lake Chautauqua on the veranda of the 19th century Inn. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt gave his famous "I Hate War" speech at Chautauqua on August 14, 1936. |

| History Lesson: Fillmore lived in East Aurora with his wife Abigail from 1826 to 1830. The house he built there while practicing law in the beginning of his political career is currently maintained by the Aurora Historical Society. The 1825 structure is restored to that period and features some original Fillmore furniture of the era, as well as items from Fillmores presidential years. |

| History Lesson: The trail passes 39 Broadway where President Washington lived during his presidency. Federal Hall National Memorial was the site of George Washington's first inauguration. Federal Hall National Memorial is located at 26 Wall Street, between Nassau St and William Street. The site is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday. |

| History Lesson: This trail goes through Madison Barracks. During the period 1848-1849, Lieutenant Ulysses S. Grant and his wife, Julia Dent Grant, were stationed at Madison Barracks. In 1851 Captain Ulysses S. Grant, accompanied by his wife and son, returned to Madison Barracks for a second tour of duty. |

YR037 (West Point): This trail goes past residential areas, the main academic area, historic monuments, the cemetery and athletic facilities of the US Military Academy with magnificent views of the Hudson River. West Point Military Academy graduated both Eisenhower as well as Grant [also Jefferson Davis, the one and only President of the Confederate States]. YR1145 (Highland Falls): Trail goes through the village of Highland Falls, past residential areas, and on to the grounds of the US Military Academy at West Point. |
