| History Lesson: The walk goes on the sidewalk in front of the Hotel del Coronado and on a public walkway on the property of the hotel. Eleven presidents have stayed at the hotel and some have conducted various official functions at the hotel. | History Lesson: The Mission Inn is on this trail and has been the site of some of the following events involving US Presidents. Richard Nixon was married in the Presidential Lounge in the Mission Inn. Theodore Roosevelt is said to have planted a Navel Orange Tree in the Mission Inn's Main Courtyard. The Mission Inn had a special chair built to accommodate the 300-pound William Howard Taft during his visit and stay. Benjamin Harrison, Herbert Hoover, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford have all been guests at the Mission Inn. |

| History Lesson: In September 1975 there was an attempted assassination of Gerald Ford while he was touring the State Capitol grounds. Also Ronald Reagan was Governor and was the last Governor to reside in the Historic Governor's Mansion at the corner of 16th and H Streets. |

| History Lesson: Two years after leaving office on October 26, 1879, U. S. Grant, on the last leg of a World tour with wife and son visited Tahoe City, California, the spot where, in 1872, he had granted four acres of land to the citizens of Tahoe City, for the Commons Beach. From there the party was transported to Glenbrook on the steamship Meteor on the way to the Comstock area in Nevada. |

President Hayes and party trained to Glenbrook and boarded the steamship Meteor for Tahoe City, California late in the day they boarded a special Central Pacific Train in Truckee bound for San Francisco. |
