The official convention hotel is now accepting room reservations under the AVA room block. Hotel information is as follows: Orlando Airport Marriott, 7499 Augusta National Drive, Orlando, Florida 32822-5015. Phone contact 800-380-6751. Be sure to ask for the AVA room block to take advantage of the negotiated reduced room rates ($99 plus tax) and parking rates ($30) from Monday through Friday nights. Rates prior to and after those dates depending on availability may be available at the $99 rate; if no availability, rates increase and a $12/day parking fee for cars is assessed.
To book a room online, go to the www.AVA.org website homepage, scroll to the bottom, or click on “Room Reservations at the Marriott.” That takes you to the hotel homepage.
A room reservation form (gray color) will appear on the left side of your screen. Fill in the appropriate information. Be advised that there are no other discounts that will be honored by the hotel for our convention, such as AAA/CAA, senior or government and military.
Before you continue, be sure that the block “Group Code” displays the code avaavaa. If not, type it in and then proceed. This code will ensure you receive the discounted AVA room rate.
The $99 room rate is only applicable for the April 29 - May 3 dates. The hotel will honor the convention rate, if rooms are available, the three days prior to and after the period. Book the Monday-Friday dates then ask for the pre and post day availability.
Nicknamed “The City Beautiful,” Orlando is best known for Walt Disney World and for the Universal Studios Orlando Resort. Orlando is the 79th largest city in the U.S. and was the most visited American city in 2009. Orlando attracts over 51 million tourists a year.
This 2013 convention is being held earlier in the year than most others because of a concern for the health and safety of volkssporters who would otherwise be walking in the Florida summer heat and humidity.
Additional information will be released in the near future regarding convention registration, agenda, the pre-convention photo contest and other items of interest.
